It started with a Google Search . . .
"where to find used Montessori materials."
I was looking for an object permanence box, but I didn't feel comfortable spending $20+ a on a toy that my baby would use for only a few months.
Spoiler alert: I didn't find a used object permanence box that day. In the end, I made one from a shoebox. My DIY skills are lacking, but it served its purpose.
As for my search, it was not for naught. While browsing through a forum, I came across the suggestion of a toy library.
It turns out that there are a number of toy lending libraries across the country and globe! Many of them are located inside of public libraries while others are stand alone.
And with that discovery, I began to dream.
What if we had a toy library here in Memphis?
And so, the story of the Oxford Toy Closet began.
